Our Consignment Policy:

PAPERCUTS strives to support our many talented local authors, and our consignment program gives us the opportunity to carry more self-published, independently published, and print-on-demand books than ever before! Since we are approached with regularity by authors hoping we will sell their books, we have created this written consignment policy so that all expectations and aspects of our consignment program are clear.

We cannot accommodate walk-in or telephone inquiries about our consignment program. Please review the consignment information here on our website and reach out via email.

Unsolicited books and other items—either sent by mail or delivered in person—will not be accepted, nor can we guarantee their return.

For a book to be considered for consignment at PAPERCUTS, it must have the following;

1) A printed and bound spine displaying the title and author’s name (no blank, stapled, or spiral bindings, please)

2) A cover displaying the title and author’s name

3) A 13-digit ISBN and its corresponding scannable barcode

Please know that consignment is labor-intensive and we have a very small staff. Consignment involves creating accounts, tracking book sales regularly, managing stock, and processing payments that must be done for each consigned author. Recognizing this, PAPERCUTS collects a non-refundable one-time fee of $25.00 per title that we accept into our consignment program.

Review of books being considered for consignment can from 4-6 weeks. We will notify you via email of our decision regarding your book as soon as possible. Review decisions made by our buyers are final.

PAPERCUTS has sole discretion in regards to in-store placement of your book and how it’s displayed.

If PAPERCUTS accepts your books into our consignment program, we require two pieces of documentation:

1) A signed and dated copy of our consignment agreement

2) A federal W-9 form

Our consignment program offers authors a 60/40 sales split, with 60% of the cost of each book going to the you, the author. Beyond the initial $25.00 administrative fee, authors pay PAPERCUTS nothing more. We will issue payment bi-annually for consignment sales.

We review sales performance every six months to determine whether to keep titles in stock. If we choose to no longer stock a title, authors will be asked to pick up any remaining stock. Books will be held for one month after termination notification.
